Pirates Hijack Cargo Vessel Off Somalia, Crew Held
A cargo vessel flagged under St. Kitts and Nevis has been hijacked by suspected pirates off the coast of Somalia. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that the vessel was redirected towards Somali waters, with the incident occurring near Garacad. The ship, named Sward, was en route from Suez, Egypt, to Mombasa, Kenya, when it was boarded. The crew consists of 15 members, including two Indian nationals and 13 Syrians. The Puntland Maritime Police Force has been notified, and the vessel is currently under pirate control.
