Eastern Europe Commemorates Roma Holocaust with Memorial Events
Eastern European countries are observing the European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day on August 2, commemorating the genocide of Roma and Sinti people during World War II. The day was officially recognized by the EU in 2015, and various countries hold memorial services and educational activities to honor the victims. In Germany, the day is marked with public addresses and participation from government representatives. Poland, Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Romania, and other countries have established their own commemorative practices, often involving visits to historical sites and memorials.
