Fort Collins, Colorado, has experienced above-average rainfall this May, with a total of 3.42 inches recorded so far, surpassing the monthly average of 2.72 inches. A storm system on May 17-18 contributed 1.42 inches of rain, according to the Colorado Climate Center. Additional precipitation earlier in the month, including 1.75 inches from a May 4-6 storm, has helped alleviate drought conditions in the area. The storm also brought heavy, wet snow to higher elevations, with 5.5 inches measured near Estes Park and up to 39 inches in southern Wyoming. Schools and campuses in the region were temporarily closed due to the weather.
