BLM Seeks Public Input on DeLamar Mine Expansion Proposal in Idaho
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently soliciting public comments on a proposal by DeLamar Mining Co. to reopen and expand a mine located west of Silver City, Idaho. The proposal involves the expansion of existing open pit mines on Florida and DeLamar mountains, which includes the construction of hauling and mine-access roads, heap leach facilities, and development rock storage facilities. The BLM plans to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to assess the effects of the mining plan, with the final EIS and Record of Decision expected by summer 2027. Public meetings are scheduled for June 9 and June 11 to discuss the proposal. The project is estimated to disturb 2,915 acres, with construction and mining activities projected to last 19 years.
