Wrights Spring Fire Expands to 34,000 Acres; Evacuations and Air Quality Alert Issued
The Wrights Spring Fire in Oregon has grown significantly, reaching nearly 34,000 acres as of August 8, 2026, with containment still at 0%. Evacuation orders have been issued at Level 3, Level 2, and Level 1 for affected areas, including closures along Sprague River Highway from 9 Mile Road to Sprague River Drive and Bliss Road at milepost 2. Evacuation centers have been established at Chiloquin Elementary School for residents and Klamath County Fairgrounds for livestock. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has also issued an Air Quality Alert, effective until noon PDT Monday, due to wildfire smoke causing unhealthy air conditions. Residents are advised to avoid FS Road 5813, FS Road 5817, and FS Road 22 due to heavy fire traffic and operational activity.
