West Fargo Man Charged with Felony Assault After Displaying Handgun During I-94 Road Rage Incident
David Allan Kruse, a 73-year-old West Fargo man, has been charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a pistol without a permit following a road rage incident on I-94 in Clay County, Minnesota. The charges stem from an event on August 19, when another driver reported that Kruse displayed a handgun during a traffic dispute. According to the criminal complaint, the victim stated that Kruse's silver Cadillac SUV was traveling below the speed limit in the left lane, causing traffic to back up. When the victim approached, Kruse allegedly braked suddenly, and after the victim gestured, Kruse retrieved and displayed a black handgun. A state trooper later located Kruse's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop for speeding. Kruse admitted to the encounter, stating he displayed the handgun for self-defense but denied pointing it directly at the other driver. Law enforcement confirmed Kruse did not possess a valid permit to carry, and a loaded black handgun was recovered from his vehicle.
