LAPD Retaliated Against Officers for Reporting Safety Concerns, Jury Finds
A Los Angeles Superior Court jury found that the LAPD retaliated against four officers who reported unsafe conditions at a firearms training facility. The jury awarded the officers nearly $15 million, highlighting a culture of retaliation within the department. The officers, who had extensive experience, raised concerns about staffing shortages and unsafe training protocols, which were ignored. Following their whistleblower activity, they faced internal investigations and adverse employment actions, including demotions and transfers.
