Germany and Ukraine Sign Strategic Defense Partnership Amid Ongoing Conflict
Germany and Ukraine have signed a defense cooperation agreement, elevating their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. The agreement, signed during President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Berlin, focuses on expanding military cooperation, including air defense, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of learning from each other and announced joint drone production as part of the collaboration. This move is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to deepen defense partnerships and expand its domestic arms industry. The agreement also includes a memorandum of understanding for electronic military data exchange between the two countries' defense ministries.
