Joe Anderson, co-founder of Benovia Winery and a prominent philanthropist in Sonoma County, has died at the age of 76. Anderson, who had a successful career in government and healthcare management, was known for his generous contributions to various causes, including healthcare, literacy, and support for veterans. He and his wife, Mary Dewane, purchased a vineyard in 2003 and opened Benovia Winery two years later. Anderson was also known for his passion for honoring military veterans, exemplified by his ownership of a World War II-era aircraft, The Spirit of Benovia, which he used to commemorate historical events and honor veterans.
