Prolonged Heat Wave Triggers Weather Warn Days in WNC and Surrounding Areas
A prolonged heat wave has prompted a rare, week-long stretch of Weather Warn Days across western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and northeast Georgia. Starting Wednesday and lasting through Monday, residents in these areas will experience dangerous heat conditions. Feels-like temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90s °F (mid-30s °C) in the mountains and exceed 100 °F (37.8 °C) in other regions. Much of the nation, from Florida to Iowa and the Carolina coast, is under Heat Advisories or Extreme Heat Warnings, with the most intense heat currently observed in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois. Authorities are urging residents to prioritize heat safety, including hydration, appropriate clothing, and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
