Ex-CIA Official David Rush Charged with Stealing $40 Million in Gold Bars
David Rush, a former senior CIA official, has been arrested and charged with the theft of hundreds of gold bars valued at over $40 million from the federal government. According to federal court filings in Virginia, Rush, who held top secret-level clearance, allegedly requested and received significant quantities of foreign currency and gold bars for work-related expenses between November and March. The FBI's investigation revealed that Rush stored a portion of the stolen assets in a storage space near his office. A search of his home on May 18 led to the seizure of more than 300 gold bars, approximately $2 million in U.S. currency, and 35 luxury watches. The FBI, in collaboration with the CIA and the Department of Justice, is continuing its investigation into the case.
