Colorado Wildfires: Injuries Reported, Aspen Acres Fire Grows to 100,224 Acres
Wildfires continue to impact Colorado, with the Aspen Acres fire in southern Colorado consuming 100,224 acres and achieving 61% containment as of Sunday morning (Source: Denver Post, 2026-07-19). This fire, which began on June 29 in Custer County, is now the seventh-largest in state history. Meanwhile, the Willow fire near Leadville has burned 7,103 acres with 37% containment, resulting in 12 reported injuries. Other fires, including the Gold Mountain and Elk fires, are also active, with varying levels of containment and evacuation orders in place. Fire crews are working tirelessly to secure perimeters and protect affected communities.
