Ninth Circuit Court Dismisses California Ghost Gun Lawsuit Due to Lack of Standing
A federal appeals court, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, has unanimously dismissed a lawsuit filed by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and gun control advocates. The lawsuit aimed to compel the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to implement stricter regulations on untraceable, self-assembled firearms, commonly known as 'ghost guns.' The three-judge panel ruled that the plaintiffs, including the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, lacked legal standing to bring the suit. Circuit Judge Consuelo M. Callahan, in an 18-page decision, stated that the legal claims were based on speculative assumptions rather than concrete injury.
