Iowa Woman Rescued by Power Crew After Being Stranded in Mud with Broken Leg
Penny Lamar, a 76-year-old woman from Boone County, Iowa, was rescued by a Midland Power Cooperative crew after being stranded in mud with a broken leg for several hours. Lamar, who has diabetes, fell while surveying storm damage on her property and was unable to move. Her husband was away, and she was not visible to neighbors. The power crew, responding to a false outage report, discovered Lamar and called emergency services. She was found with a broken femur and critically low blood sugar, but was successfully transported to a hospital for treatment.
