Orange County Mother Charged After Son's E-Motorcycle Crash Critically Injures Elderly Man
An Orange County mother, Tommi Jo Mejer, is facing felony charges after her teenage son critically injured an 81-year-old man in a crash involving an electric motorcycle. The incident occurred in Lake Forest, California, where the 14-year-old was riding the e-motorcycle illegally. The victim, Ed Ashman, a Vietnam War veteran and substitute teacher, remains hospitalized in critical condition. Prosecutors allege that Mejer was previously warned by sheriff's deputies about the illegal use of the e-motorcycle by her son. Despite these warnings, the teen continued to ride the vehicle, which can reach speeds of up to 60 mph. Mejer has been charged with multiple counts, including child endangerment and providing false information to a peace officer.
