Assal Rad's Book Examines Media's Role in Manufacturing Consent for Genocide
Historian Assal Rad has authored a new book titled 'Don’t Say Palestine: How the Media Manufactured Consent for Genocide.' In this work, Rad investigates the role of mainstream media in normalizing the dehumanization of Palestinians and, according to her, whitewashing Israel's campaign in Gaza. Rad, known on social media as the 'headline fixer' for her efforts to correct journalistic inaccuracies, discusses her findings with presenter Richard Gizbert. The book traces how media narratives have contributed to shaping public perception and consent regarding the conflict. Additionally, the report features journalist Ameed Shehade, a West Bank correspondent for Al Araby TV, who shares his experiences of living and working under challenging conditions in the occupied West Bank, where settlers, protected by the Israeli army, have been involved in besieging, attacking, and killing Palestinians.
