Etgarim's Sports Programs Empower Disabled Individuals in Israel
Etgarim, an Israeli organization, is making significant strides in empowering individuals with disabilities through outdoor challenge sports. Led by CEO Nir Hacohen, the organization offers a variety of sports activities such as sailing, surfing, and cycling, which are adapted to accommodate physical, emotional, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. Each year, 1,500 volunteers assist 6,000 participants in these activities, helping them overcome stigma and feel part of the community. The organization also supports individuals affected by trauma, including those from evacuated communities and IDF veterans. A notable success story is Oran Almog, who, after losing his sight in a terror attack, became an accomplished sailor and business leader with the help of Etgarim.
