Tom Hicks, a prominent Texas businessman and philanthropist, passed away at the age of 79. Hicks was known for his ownership of several major sports teams, including the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers, as well as a 50% stake in Liverpool FC. His business acumen was recognized with his induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 2022. Hicks co-founded Hicks & Haas in 1984 and was considered a pioneer in private equity, influencing a generation of investors. Under his ownership, the Texas Rangers won multiple American League West Division titles and reached the World Series in 2010. The Dallas Stars achieved significant success during his tenure, including winning the Stanley Cup in 1999.
