Bench Fire at 84% Containment, Round Butte Fire at 56% in Central Oregon
Fire crews in Central Oregon are making progress on two significant wildfires: the Bench Fire and the Round Butte Fire. The Bench Fire, located 4 miles southwest of Warm Springs, Oregon, has burned 67,071 acres and is now 84% contained. It was ignited by lightning on July 23, 2026. Meanwhile, the Round Butte Fire, 5 miles west of Madras, Oregon, has burned 1,163 acres and is 56% contained. This fire started on August 1, 2026, with its cause still under investigation.
