IRS Promotes Saver's Match Under TrumpIRA Program to Boost Retirement Savings
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department are set to promote the federal Saver's Match program as part of the TrumpIRA initiative. This program, established by an executive order from President Trump, aims to enhance retirement savings access for American workers. The TrumpIRA.gov website, which is already online, will officially launch on January 1, 2027. It focuses on increasing public awareness of the Saver's Match, which allows eligible lower- and middle-income workers to receive up to $1,000 annually in contributions to qualifying retirement accounts. The program is part of the SECURE 2.0 Act and replaces the older Saver's Credit. It offers a 50% match on the first $2,000 of qualified retirement savings contributions, effective for the 2027 tax year.
