Waukesha Man Charged with Six Felonies Following Meijer Hostage Situation and Police Shooting
Anthony J. Lehman, 21, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, has been charged with six felony counts, including first-degree reckless injury, false imprisonment, three counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, and making terrorist threats. These charges stem from a July 30 hostage situation at a Meijer store located at 801 E. Sunset Drive. According to the criminal complaint, Lehman called 911 from inside the store, claiming to be armed with a knife and holding a hostage in the men's restroom, demanding to speak with a negotiator. Investigators detailed that Lehman ordered the 59-year-old man to sit down and threatened him with a knife and a 'dead man switch'—a spring clamp tool with two razor blades attached. Surveillance video showed Lehman entering the restroom shortly before the hostage. The hostage eventually fought back, swinging his belt buckle at Lehman, who then left the restroom.
