Wildfire Contained in West Deptford, New Jersey
A wildfire erupted in West Deptford Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, prompting a significant response from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire began around 11 a.m. near Red Bank and Hessian avenues, close to the former Eagle Point Refinery property. Initially, heavy smoke was visible across the area as crews worked to contain the blaze. By 2 p.m., the fire had expanded to 160 acres and was 70% contained, threatening approximately 60 structures and leading to voluntary evacuations. As of 6 p.m., the fire was fully contained, with no structures currently at risk and all evacuations lifted. Crews remain on-site to reinforce containment lines and manage hotspots until substantial rainfall occurs.
