Drought Conditions Worsen Across 63% of the U.S.
According to The Washington Post, the United States is experiencing one of the most severe droughts this century, with nearly 63% of the country affected. The drought stretches from Oregon to Florida and northward to Washington, D.C. Utah has seen a 59% reduction in precipitation since October, while Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico have also experienced significant decreases. The drought is impacting nine states entirely, including Alabama, Georgia, and Utah, with Florida facing its worst drought this century. The La Niña climate pattern has contributed to the severity, affecting river flows, agriculture, and increasing wildfire risks.
