Firefighters Prevent Major Damage in Cross Lake Shed Fire
A fire at Cross Lake resulted in the complete destruction of a shed, but firefighters from North Lakes Fire & Rescue successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to a nearby home. The fire began in a shed located at 2297 Caribou Road, owned by Leo Trudel. The quick response from 11 firefighters and the Maine Forest Service, following a 911 call, was crucial in saving the adjacent structure and surrounding wood line. Chief Darren Woods emphasized the importance of early reporting in emergencies, noting that the rapid call to 911 likely prevented a much worse outcome. The fire was contained within an hour, and no injuries were reported. The Maine fire marshal's office is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
