President Trump Expands ICE Partnerships Amid Record Deportations
President Trump is intensifying his administration's immigration enforcement efforts by allocating $1.6 billion to expand partnerships between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and state and local police. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance federal immigration enforcement powers at the local level. In July, ICE arrests reached a record high of 51,000, marking the highest monthly total in the history of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The expansion of these partnerships has seen a significant increase, with over 2,100 agreements now in place nationwide, representing a 1,470% surge since January 2025. This development is part of a larger pattern of aggressive immigration policies under the Trump administration, which has faced criticism for its approach to immigration enforcement and treatment of detainees.
