Rep. Pat Harrigan and Senators Urge Sanctions Against Indian Cyber-Mercenary Firms
Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C., alongside Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., has called on Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to impose sanctions on three India-based companies: Sunkissed Organic Farms Pvt. Ltd. (formerly Appin Technology Pvt. Ltd.), BellTroX Pvt. Ltd., and CyberRoot Pvt. Ltd. These companies are accused of operating as cyber-mercenaries, engaging in targeted espionage against U.S. citizens, businesses, and legal professionals for over fifteen years. Investigations by Reuters and The Citizen Lab indicate these firms conducted widespread hacking campaigns targeting private equity firms, pharmaceutical companies, and over 1,000 attorneys to manipulate ongoing litigation.
