New York Governor Announces $200 Rebate Checks to Offset Rising Utility Bills
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a plan to distribute rebate checks of up to $200 to help residents manage increasing utility bills. This initiative, part of the 'Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate' (POWER) program, aims to assist approximately 8.5 million families. The rebate is a response to the financial strain caused by rising costs for heating in winter and air conditioning in summer. Families earning less than $150,000 will receive the full $200, while those earning between $150,000 and $300,000 will receive $150. Individual filers with incomes under $150,000 will receive $100. The checks will be issued as advance credit checks and mailed between September and December.
