Rep. Jamie Raskin Supports Sean McCann's Congressional Bid, Criticizes Republican Agenda
U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) recently lent his support to State Sen. Sean McCann, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s 4th Congressional District, at a town hall event in Saugatuck, Michigan. Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI) also joined the event. During his address, Raskin drew a parallel between driving a car and politics, stating that voting 'D' for Democrat moves the country forward, while voting 'R' for Republican moves it backward. He characterized the Democratic platform as focusing on the common good, including healthcare access, environmental protections, and fair trade, contrasting it with a Republican agenda he described as centered on private enrichment and corruption. McCann, who is the only Native American running for Congress in Michigan, reiterated his opposition to the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline and discussed other local issues such as energy costs and rising health insurance premiums.
