Teen Innovator Develops Water Harvesting System to Combat Desertification
A 14-year-old named Jia Mingxuan from Inner Mongolia, China, has developed a system to extract water from the air using a simple setup of steel tubes and plastic bottles. Inspired by observing water condensation in his kitchen, Jia's invention aims to support reforestation efforts in arid regions by providing a low-cost, maintenance-free method of watering newly planted trees. The system captures humid air, condenses it into water droplets, and delivers it to tree roots, potentially aiding in the survival of young trees in desertified areas.
