DC-Area High Schools Achieve Top 10 National Rankings in U.S. News Report
Two high schools in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area have secured spots among the top 10 nationally in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings. Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County, Virginia, ranked sixth, maintaining its consistent high performance. The District’s School Without Walls made a significant leap, climbing from 69th last year to fifth nationally among nearly 18,000 high schools ranked. Lamont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News and World Report, highlighted School Without Walls' exceptional improvement, particularly in state assessment tests where it tied for first nationally. Thomas Jefferson High School also tied for first nationally in three key areas: the College Readiness Index, Graduation Rate, and State Assessment Proficiency.
