Senator Patty Murray Introduces Bill to Counter President Trump's Tariffs Amid Canadian Retaliation
U.S. Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash., has introduced the End Trump's Tariff Tax Act, a bill aimed at revoking and refunding President Trump's recent global and Canadian tariffs. This legislative action comes as Canada prepares to implement retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on approximately $20 billion worth of U.S. products, including aluminum foil, cotton T-shirts, and cheese. These Canadian tariffs are a direct response to the U.S. tariffs imposed by President Trump last month. While the current U.S. and Canadian levies affect a limited range of goods, President Trump has indicated that a forceful response will follow if Canada proceeds with its new tariffs. Senator Murray has consistently voiced concerns about the detrimental impact of these tariffs on Washington state, which is heavily reliant on trade.
