Reform MP Sarah Pochin Faces Scrutiny Over £5,000 Donation Amid Campaigning Controversy
Sarah Pochin, a Reform UK MP for Runcorn and Helsby, is under scrutiny following a £5,000 donation from Catherine Wantling of Etonbrook Ltd, a company linked to the food industry. The donation, made on May 19, was intended to support Pochin's parliamentary office. The Wantling family, associated with Meadow Vale Foods, a major player in the frozen chicken market, could benefit from Pochin's campaign against the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme. This legislation requires companies to cover the costs of managing household packaging waste, a move Pochin argues unfairly penalizes producers. Despite no evidence of wrongdoing, campaigners are calling for a parliamentary investigation to ensure transparency, especially given Reform UK's current donation scandals.
