Rochester Police Close Downtown Streets to Recapture Escaped Detainee
In Rochester, New York, police closed several downtown streets on Saturday morning to search for Eric Fountain, a 37-year-old man who escaped police custody. Fountain, described as a white male of medium build, 5-feet-11-inches tall, was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a black T-shirt. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported that Fountain escaped while being processed downtown. The Rochester Police Department, New York State Police, and other local agencies collaborated in the search effort. The search concluded successfully when Fountain was found inside a large drainage pipe system near the river. Emergency crews, including firefighters, entered the confined space to safely retrieve him. Fountain was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported among the emergency personnel involved.
