EF-3 Tornado Causes Significant Damage in Marathon County, Wisconsin
A powerful EF-3 tornado struck Marathon County, Wisconsin, on April 17, 2026, causing extensive damage in the towns of Kronenwetter, Weston, Ringle, and near Easton. According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the tornado had winds reaching 145 mph, was on the ground for 17 minutes, and traveled 13.5 miles with a width equivalent to six football fields. The storm resulted in significant damage to dozens of homes and uprooted hundreds of trees, leading to widespread power outages. Additionally, an EF-1 tornado was confirmed northwest of Glandon, affecting areas in northern Marathon and southern Lincoln Counties with winds up to 110 mph. This tornado was on the ground for over four miles and was 100 yards wide. The severe weather was triggered by a sharp cold front and a wave of low pressure moving through the region.
