Pardee School Students Present Global Perspectives on Forced Displacement at American University
Students from the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, interning with Displaced International, presented their research on forced displacement to students at American University. The presentation, delivered by Eleez Omar ('27), Ameera Saba ('27), Luisa Sinisterra ('28), and Joshua Marsh ('26), along with analyst Donya Sultani, covered case studies from South Asia, the Himalayas, Colombia, Ukraine, Türkiye, and Afghan refugee communities in the United States. Their research explored how factors such as climate change, conflict, governance, identity, and political institutions shape the experiences of displacement. The students emphasized that while the causes of displacement vary regionally, understanding responses requires looking beyond national borders and recognizing the political, social, and human dimensions of migration. This initiative provided a human and comparative perspective on an issue often discussed through statistics and policy debates.
