Heavy Rainfall Leads to Car Submersion in Port St. Lucie, Florida
In Port St. Lucie, Florida, an elderly couple was rescued from their vehicle after it became submerged in a pond due to heavy rainfall. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning near E. Caribbean Drive and Cam De Entrada. The relentless downpours have been affecting Florida's Atlantic Coast, with several inches of rain falling across the eastern half of the state, increasing the risk of flash flooding. The couple's car ended up in the pond after the driver made a wrong turn and attempted to reverse. Local police officers responded promptly, wading into the water to safely extract the occupants from the submerged vehicle. The couple was subsequently evaluated medically and transported to the hospital as a precaution, where they were found to be in good health.
