Washington Avenue Connector Nears Completion, Enhancing South Philly's Access to Delaware River
The Washington Avenue Connector, a new pedestrian and bicycle route in South Philadelphia, is nearing completion. This project aims to connect Jefferson Square Park to the Delaware River, transforming the area with a tree-lined path and safer crossings. Funded by the city, state, and grants, the $9.5 million project is part of a broader initiative to revitalize Philadelphia's riverfront. The connector will bridge the gap created by I-95, making the river more accessible and encouraging investment by nearby businesses. New traffic signals and a dedicated left-turn lane are among the improvements designed to enhance safety and traffic flow.
