Russia Allows Private Firms to Buy Heavy Weapons for Drone Defense
Russian authorities have approved a mechanism enabling private companies to purchase heavy weaponry to defend industrial facilities against drone attacks. This decision allows companies to procure anti-aircraft artillery systems, turrets, radar equipment, specialized vehicles, and electronic warfare systems. The move reflects growing concerns over the frequency of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting strategic infrastructure in Russia. The issue was discussed during a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, highlighting the need for mechanisms to supply heavier weapons systems to protect facilities.
