Governor Ferguson Issues Emergency Proclamation to Aid Wildfire Victims in Washington
Governor Bob Ferguson of Washington has signed an emergency proclamation to assist those affected by the state's devastating wildfires. The proclamation aims to provide relief by expanding access to the state's disaster cash assistance program, facilitating the replacement of vital documents lost in the fires, and easing access to unemployment benefits. Additionally, it temporarily suspends regulatory requirements for healthcare facilities to ensure continued access to medical services. The proclamation also includes measures to support businesses, such as relaxing certain requirements to help them remain viable during the disaster. This initiative covers several counties and tribal nations, including Chelan, Ferry, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens, Douglas, and Yakima, as well as the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, and the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
