Italy, Sweden, and Germany Enhance Maritime Intelligence Capabilities
Italy, Sweden, and Germany are advancing their maritime intelligence capabilities with new vessel acquisitions and upgrades. Italy's Fincantieri has delivered the multi-purpose support vessel Tritone to the Italian Navy, designed for underwater warfare and protection of critical infrastructure. The Tritone, converted from a civilian vessel, will serve as a coordination hub for seafloor activities and can be used for submarine rescue operations. This development is part of Italy's broader strategy to enhance its seabed warfare capabilities. Meanwhile, Germany is progressing with a maritime intelligence vessel capable of conducting intelligence gathering below the waterline, and Sweden is also looking to enhance its underwater and seabed warfare activities.
