Although the project is within Provo city limits, its geographical proximity to Orem, with Timpanogos Park to the north and 800 North (a main roadway connecting I-15 to U.S. 189) running through Orem, means the development would directly impact Orem residents. The project's application was recently withdrawn for amendment to address issues such as the Critical Hillside Overlay Zone and parking requirements, but Orem's opposition remains firm.

The city had purchased the property in late 2022 for $32 million after Station Casinos demolished the hotel-casino.

Former Republican lawmaker Mark McBride has filed a lawsuit with the Oklahoma Supreme Court to challenge Governor Kevin Stitt's executive proclamation calling for a special statewide election on April 6, 2027.
