Connecticut Receives Federal and State Funding to Expand State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown
Connecticut's Congressional delegation and Governor Ned Lamont have announced that the state will receive a $584,250 grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to expand the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. This federal funding will be complemented by an additional $294,250 in state funding already allocated for the project. The expansion, overseen by the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), aims to create 1,510 new grave sites for buried cremains on a parcel of land adjacent to the existing cemetery at 317 Bow Lane. This property, formerly used by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) for Connecticut Valley Hospital operations, was recently transferred to the DVA for this purpose.
