GA-ASI and USAF Successfully Test Laser-Guided Rockets on MQ-9A Reaper, Enhancing Military Capabilities
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and the U.S. Air Force (USAF) have completed successful flight tests of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) on the MQ-9A Reaper Remotely Piloted Aircraft. The tests were conducted at the Nevada Test and Training Range, showcasing the MQ-9A's ability to execute various shot profiles using laser-guided rockets. This initiative involved collaboration among multiple Department of War stakeholders and industry partners, aiming to enhance the MQ-9A's operational capabilities. David R. Alexander, President of GA-ASI, highlighted the significance of the APKWS integration, noting its potential to increase the MQ-9A's weapon capacity and introduce cost-effective solutions for countering threats like one-way attack drones.
