Colorado Lawmakers Develop Strategy for $200 Million Federal Rural Health Funds
Colorado lawmakers are crafting a strategy to manage $200 million in federal funding allocated annually for the next five years under the Rural Health Transformation Program. The funds, part of H.R. 1, are intended to support rural health care initiatives. The state's Commission on Medicaid, a bipartisan and bicameral body, is tasked with guiding the implementation of these funds. The majority of the funds, $160 million, will be directed to rural health care providers, with the remainder allocated for training and technical assistance. The program mandates that funds be used for new operations and innovations, not day-to-day expenses, and only rural providers are eligible.
