Extreme Heat Warnings Issued Across 22 U.S. States

Heat index values, which represent 'feels-like' temperatures, are forecast to reach as high as 112°F (44.4°C) in parts of the South and Gulf Coast. States affected include Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Specific areas within these states are under advisories, with temperatures ranging from 80°F (26.7°C) in Alaska to over 110°F (43.3°C) in southern regions. The advisories are expected to last through Sunday evening, with some extending into Monday or Tuesday depending on the location. The NWS warns of dangerous heat conditions and advises residents to stay indoors, hydrate, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
