Imperial City Council Advances Park Development and Infrastructure Modernization
The Imperial City Council has approved two significant items related to park development and infrastructure modernization. The council authorized the issuance of a request for proposals (RFP) for the Imperial Regional Park Development, which involves 143 acres of agricultural land designated for future park use. This project is supported by $1.5 million in federal appropriation funding, facilitated by Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz. The council also discussed updates on a climate infrastructure modernization program aimed at reducing operating costs and modernizing city facilities. This program, awarded to Climatec, includes energy, gas, and water infrastructure improvements across city facilities. The preliminary funding plan for this initiative is estimated at $11 million, with anticipated savings of $17.5 million over the equipment's lifespan.
