Chile's Mining Sector Boosted by Kinross' Environmental Permit for Lobo-Marte
Chile's Economy and Mining Minister, Daniel Mas, has welcomed Kinross Gold Corp's decision to pursue an environmental permit for its Lobo-Marte gold project. The project, located in northern Chile, represents a significant investment of $1.5 billion and is expected to create 2,800 jobs during construction. This development is part of a broader trend of mining megaprojects in Chile, signaling a pro-investment environment. Other projects include BHP's Escondida concentrator and Freeport-McMoRan's Minera El Abra, collectively amounting to over $17 billion in investments.
