Peru Attorney General Initiates Investigation into Former IDF Soldier for Alleged War Crimes
Peru's Attorney General's Office has commenced a preliminary criminal investigation against a former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier from Battalion 424 'Shaked' of the Givati Brigade. This action follows a complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation, a Belgian-Palestinian organization that monitors Israelis traveling abroad. The investigation, ordered by the First Supraprovincial Criminal Prosecutor’s Office for Human Rights and Counterterrorism, is set to last 15 days and began on April 28, 2026. The allegations against the soldier include war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide purportedly committed in the Gaza Strip during his service with the IDF. The organization claims the individual is currently in Peru, which could allow local authorities to exercise jurisdiction over the case.
