San Antonio Police Officer Shoots Armed Suspect in Self-Defense During Pursuit
A San Antonio police officer, identified as Matthew Kory, shot a suspect named Hector Carreno in self-defense during a pursuit on the West Side of San Antonio. The incident occurred after an anonymous tip led officers to Carreno, who had multiple felony warrants. Officer Kory fired his weapon after Carreno allegedly pointed a gun at him. The pursuit began when officers attempted to arrest Carreno at a residence on Chihuahua Street. Carreno fled, leading to a foot chase where he was eventually confronted by Officer Kory. During the confrontation, Carreno reportedly drew his weapon, prompting Kory to fire in self-defense. Carreno was hit by two rounds and taken to a hospital. He now faces charges including aggravated assault against a public servant, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and evading arrest. His bond is set at $140,000, and he remains in custody.
