Upper East Side Bar Closed Due to Health Violations
The Spotted Dog, a bar and restaurant located on First Avenue in New York City's Upper East Side, was ordered to close by city officials after accumulating 113 violation points during a health inspection. Inspectors found evidence of rats, flies, improper food-temperature controls, and multiple food-safety hazards. The establishment also lacked a certified food protection manager on site, and staff were observed eating or smoking in food preparation areas. This closure marks the second time the bar has been shuttered by the Health Department.
